I blame Ron Burson for everything!  After graduation from CUHS, I was very happy going to IVC part time (where I majored in playing cards all day) and sucking down beers on the weekend.  Ron got me a job at the Naval Air Station that involved those new-fangled things called computers.  I really didn’t know what they were, but I had fun fooling around with them.  Well, one thing led to another, and forty years later, I am still in the computer field, and even a “pioneer” of sorts, since I can still remember when computers were bigger than breadboxes! (Ron, being quite a bit smarter than me, moved on to other things)

I moved from El Centro to LA to run “the” computer at Cal State, Northridge (they had only one in 1964), and to go to school.  I stayed at Cal State Northridge for 27 years, got my MBA, had three kids (twin boys and a daughter), went through the usual first marriage (bad) and the second marriage (good).  Along the way, I have also consulted quite a bit, including several World Bank trips to China.

Ten years ago, we took advantage of a brief period when none of the kids were in-residence to move to Washington, and improve our life style.  Pat took the opportunity to concentrate full time on her quilting, and I am VP for Information Technology at Western Washington University in Bellingham (about 90 miles due north of Seattle).  We really enjoy the Northwest.  We have a house on Puget Sound, and I enjoy seeing water everyday.  I still miss the Valley, but not the weather.  I’m afraid I’ve become a “weather wimp” and complain like everyone else up here when the temperature is over 75! Que Lastima!

Sorry I can’t make the reunion, but let’s all stay in touch…See ya’ at 50!
