Hi
Jan, I have had a wonderful life and I thank God every day for giving me such
Blessings!
After
High School I spent one year in El
Centro working for Sears and going to I.V.C. at night.
I then transferred to San Diego
State and a Bachelor of
Science in Physics, specializing in Bio-Engineering. I then came back to El Centro to think over
my next move and guess what I got drafted into the Army. After a hitch in the
Army and a visit to a small exotic country called Viet Nam, where I backpacked and
learned to make myself very small. I also saw Norma Sing in Na Trang, Viet Nam, she was an Army Nurse and
I was wounded she took care of me, Thank You Norma and God Bless You
Always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After
the Army I went back to school on the G.I. Bill. I went to Western Kentucky
University in Bowling Green, Kentucky
and got a Master of Science in Physics, specializing in Bio-Engineering and
Design. I then moved to Berkeley,
California and got a Doctor of
Science in Physics, specializing in Bio-Engineering and Design. I then went on
a blind date and fell madly in love. A year later I married Alice Jean Latham,
from Concord, California and we have been married for 29
years and I'm still madly in love with her. We have one adopted son, Scott is
in medical school at Baylor
University and will
graduate next year.
I
was a teacher for five years at the University
of California at Berkeley
and then went to work for The St. Lukes Hospital
Group and worked my way up to Corporate Vice President and Director of
Bio-Medical Engineering for St. Lukes Hospital,
Houston, Texas.
I retired in September 1997. My wife and I then founded Hope Unlimited a
non-profit group to help poor and needy countries in South and Central America
and the Caribbean. The group supplies clinics,
hospitals, doctors, schools and church's with equipment, furniture and supplies
for free. We have built a number of clinics and hospitals and hope to continue
with God's help. We are working in Dominica
a very small and poor island in the Caribbean,
this project should last least five years.
My
wife has worked for NASA
Johnson Space
Center for 34 years. She
started right after college. Alice
plans on working another year or two.
We
travel a lot and love sailing in the Caribbean.
I
thank God everyday for giving me such a full and great life.
