Life is indeed precious. For the last 40 years, I have tried to live life
to its fullest extent and to capture "Kodak" moments along the
way.
Educational highlights: After graduating Central Union in 1961, I attended
Imperial Valley College, then San Diego State College from which I graduated
with a bachelor degree in elementary education in 1963. Upon graduation I
returned to the valley and taught at Meadow Unions for a year. I was fortunate
to receive a full scholarship to University of Southern California and
graduated with a master in library science in 1967.
Professional Highlights: Hired by Montebello Unified School District in 1967, I
was a library media specialist, a teacher specialist, and classroom teacher
and, now I am mentoring beginning and veteran teachers.
Family Highlights: For 32 years I have been happily married to Ying Wang. Ying is the Managing Director of his firm,
which deals with international finance and arranging strategic alliances.
Unlike, many of my classmates who were blessed early in life with children,
grandchildren, and great grand children, Ying and I had difficulty
conceiving. After 7 years, we were blessed with two children Daniel Ying,
now age 25 and Janet Jade, now age 22.
Daniel graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a
degree in economics and now works as an underwriter at American International
Group (AIG) in Los Angeles. He plans to pursue his MBA in finance. Janet is a
senior and a Presidential scholar at the University of California Los
Angeles. She plans to attend graduate school majoring in public
health. Both Daniel and Janet are single and it looks like it will be a
LONG time before I become a GRANDMA.
Travel Highlights: Since 1974, we live in North Tustin, California and enjoy a
quiet life away from crowded cities. Surrounded by wonderful neighbors and
friends, we have an abundant garden filled with flowers, vegetables, and fruit
trees. Over the years, we have traveled extensively through
the US, Canada, and Mexico. Our most recent international tour was to
Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Community Highlights: We are active members of the Orange County Chinese
Association, and are on the Board of Directors for the Asian American Senior
Citizen Service Center in Santa Ana. For several years my family and I
have assisted with the Interfaith Shelter for the Homeless at St. Johns
Lutheran Church, in Orange, California. We are also involved in the Boy
Scouts of America. Daniel, following in his father’s footsteps, earned his
Eagle Scout Award.
Reflecting back on all that has
happened, I am truly blessed with a loving family, good health, and kind
friends. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Life is indeed precious!
